ABSTRACT:

In 2020 during the lockdown period all the daily wage workers got unemployed. Pandemic was one of the worst periods for these people have left nothing. Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme helped these people to get employed. Some Indian States have declared and announced that they will pay the labor during the lockdown period. After traveling for long hours in search of work, most of the labors experienced a terrible drop in employment after November 2020 –21. But few limited repair work and few construction projects are being undertaken by private builders and contractors. Covid 19 affected the life of daily wage workers very badly not only this they have to leave the place because there was no employment because of the lockdown. Researcher noticed that workers who were working in the city for a longer period (10 years or more) started demanding higher wages. The typical labors during the pandemic beat disaster was forced to become more and more dependent on indebtedness, ultra-exploitative, asset-owning class of workers and informal money lenders, which has only made their living condition worse over time.
